Grade 3
Review
Time and Money
Review how to tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m. Besides, solve word problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and ¢ symbols appropriately.
Two-Dimensional Figures
Review how to describe and analyze shapes by examining their sides and angles. Besides, they will learn how to partition parts into equal parts which lays foundation for fractions in Grade 3.
Addition and Subtraction
Review the addition and subtraction of three-digit numbers, including understanding standard alogorithm through various tools like number lines or models. This will lead to learning the use of the standard algorithm for addition and subtraction. Only by understanding can errors related to regrouping or number alignment be avoided. Additionally, it includes strategies and practice to help students add and subtract more fluently. Finally, there are word problems. After this section of learning, students will be proficient in three-digit addition and subtraction and solving related word problems.

Multiplication
Division
They will develop an understanding of the meanings of multiplication and division of whole numbers through activities and problems involving equal-sized groups, arrays, and area models; They will also learn basic multiplication facts and properties of operations to calculate products of whole numbers. By comparing a variety of solution strategies, students learn the relationship between multiplication and division.
Fractions
They will learn how to use fractions to represent numbers equal to, less than, and greater than one. Understand what is equivalent fractions and solve problems that involve comparing fractions by using visual fraction models and strategies based on noticing equal numerators or denominators.
Area and Perimeter
They will recognize area or perimeter as an attribute of plane figures and learn the rectangle area formula and perimeter formula, which are related to multiplication and division.

Multiplication and Division
Fractions
The primary focus is on learning multiplication and division of two-digit numbers, including using standard algorithm to find the answer, understand the meaning of remainder. Additionally, it includes strategies and practice to help students multiply and divide more fluently. Finally, there are word problems. After this section of learning, students will be proficient in two-digit multiplication and division and solving related word problems.
The primary focus is on learning addition, subtraction and multiplication of fractions, including adding or subtracting fractions with like denominators, multiplying whole numbers and fractions, and multiplying whole numbers and mixed numbers. This is the foundation for learning how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators in 5th grade.
Decimals
When students learn about decimals, they need to understand them with the help of fractions, such as understanding tenths and hundredths, adding tenths and hundredths, and comparing decimals. The emphasis here is on grasping the concept of decimals, which lays the foundation for future arithmetic operations with decimals.

Whole Number Operations
Fractions Operations
The calculations here will be more complex, including multi-digit multiplication by two-digit numbers and multi-digit division by two-digit numbers. The difficulty of these calculations is much higher than in the previous grade.
This is a further study of fraction calculations such as adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, multiplying fractions, and dividing a unit fraction by a whole number.
Decimals and Thousandths
This is a further study of decimals. Previously, students only knew tenths and hundredths. Now they will learn thousandths, using fractions to further understand decimals. Additionally, they will learn to represent decimals using place value and understand the relationships between different place values, which is the key focus of this study.
