Elementary ELA Personalized Learning Plans

Our Personalized Learning Plans are broken down into 3 main categories including reading, writing, and foundational skills. We currently have PLP topics for grades K-8.

Literature Reading

Literature reading involves engaging with stories, poems, and other creative writings. In grades 3 to 5, students will read a variety of books, including picture books, chapter books, fairy tales, folktales, and poems.

Informational Reading

Informational reading deals with non-fiction. These are texts that provide facts about the world, including subjects like history, science, or how-to guides. Examples include textbooks, articles, and instructional books.​

Narrative Writing

Narrative writing involves telling a story, whether it is real or imagined. In grades 3 to 5, students will learn to craft their own stories, drawing from their creativity and experiences. They will write narratives that include well-developed characters, detailed settings, and engaging plots.

Opinion Writing

Opinion writing involves expressing a viewpoint and convincing others to agree with it. In grades 3 to 5, students will learn to write opinion pieces where they state their opinion clearly, support it with reasons and evidence, and sometimes address counterarguments.

In grades 3 to 5, students will learn to write informative/explanatory texts that convey ideas and information about a topic. They will organize their writing logically and use facts, details, and examples to explain their ideas.
