Parent Communication

ClassUp currently has no direct partnerships with schools or other organizations. Every student that joins ClassUp is choosing to do this as supplemental tutoring in addition to their current school and education. This means that parents are very involved in the decision to start and continue tutoring sessions with ClassUp. To build your schedule and to maintain your student memberships, it is important to also build a relationship with parents to communicate with them effectively. The most important parent communication happens at the end of a trial lesson, in class feedback, and at the end of a student's 12 week membership.

ClassUp Chat Feature:

A group chat between you, your student and parent, and the learning partner will automatically be created in the App. Here you will answer any questions the parents or students have about upcoming classes, any assigned homework, or if there is a scheduling conflict. All communication MUST be through the ClassUp app. Giving parents or students your personal contact information goes against or Standards for Excellent Teachers and will result in a Strike. Rules to follow in the group chat are:

  • Only communicate through the ClassUp App

  • Respond to all questions or messages promptly within at least 24 hours

  • Communicate professionally and clearly with little to no grammatical errors or typos

  • Only message about class or scheduling related questions, any operations or policy questions for ClassUp should be sent to us at teacher-support@classup.com

Class Feedback

Class feedback is an essential part of the trial class and ongoing learning process with your students. Once the trial class has finished, please submit your class feedback within 24 hours of the completed session. Class Feedback is one of the most important tools that we have at our disposal for delivering continuity for our students and creating plans for short and long-term growth.

Example:

"Today's lesson with [Student] went very well! [Student] has been struggling with multiplying fractions, so we worked on some practice problems for skill-building. [Student] was able to complete most of the problems correctly by the end of class! Next week, we will work through a unit examination to make sure [Student] has progressed."

Please try to make sure that your Class Feedback notes:

  • Are written using complete sentences

  • Are at least 3-5 sentences long

  • Highlight the progress that the student made, rather than just summarizing the lesson.
